Discord Badges Explained

Those little icons on a profile each mean something. Here's which badges you can still get, how the evolving ones level up, and which are gone for good.

5 min readUpdated

Quick answer

Today you can still earn four badges:

  • Nitro — subscribe to Nitro or Nitro Basic.
  • Server Booster — boost any server.
  • Quests — complete a Discord Quest.
  • Orbs — buy it in the Orbs shop.

The Nitro and Server Booster badges evolve the longer you keep them without a break. Most other badges (HypeSquad, Early Supporter, Partner…) can't be earned anymore.

The Nitro badge (and how it evolves)

Everyone with Nitro, Nitro Basic or Nitro Classic gets the Nitro badge. Hover it to see how long someone has been subscribed.

On full Nitro the badge evolves at each milestone:

TierSubscribed for
Bronze1 month
Silver3 months
Gold6 months
Platinum1 year
Diamond2 years
Emerald3 years
Ruby5 years
Opal6+ years

Nitro Basic and Classic keep the plain badge — no evolution. You can't hide the Nitro badge or pick which tier shows.

The Server Booster badge

The pink gem appears when you boost a server with your own boost (full Nitro includes 2). It evolves through 9 levels as long as you keep boosting without a break: 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 24 months.

If you boost several servers, the badge shows your longest streak.

Note: the badge goes to whoever's account the boost comes from — boosts bought for your server level it up, but don't add a badge to your profile.

Don't lose your streak

Both evolving badges reset to the first level if the streak breaks, and Discord Support can't restore them.

  • Nitro: if your subscription ends, you have 7 days to renew and keep the streak.
  • Boosts: if a boost stops (cancelled, server deleted, you got removed), you have 72 hours to put it on another server.
  • Tip: redeem your next Nitro gift before the current one runs out — Discord adds it as extra time, so there's no gap.

New badges being tested

Discord is testing more badges with a small group of users: a Gifting badge that levels up the more Nitro or Shop gifts you send, plus Account Age, Streaming, Game Time and Game Variety badges. If you don't see them yet, there's nothing to unlock — they're not out for everyone.
