Who Nitro Basic is for
Pick Basic if you mostly chat: you want to use your favourite emoji in every server and DM, and send slightly bigger files (50 MB instead of 10 MB). It's the cheapest way to get the Nitro badge and custom emoji.
Who full Nitro is for
Pick full Nitro if you stream, share big clips or want to stand out:
- 500 MB uploads — full-length clips and high-res files.
- HD streaming for games and screen shares.
- Profile perks — animated avatar, banner, themes and a different profile per server.
- 2 server boosts to put toward a server you like, plus 30% off extra boosts.
Does Nitro Basic include server boosts?
No. Only full Nitro comes with boosts — 2 per subscription. Two boosts take a server to Level 1. If you're buying Nitro mainly for the boosts, it's usually much cheaper to buy server boosts directly than to pay for several Nitro subscriptions.
Can you gift Nitro or Nitro Basic?
Yes — both can be given as a gift link. The person opens the link while logged into Discord and presses Accept. If they already have Nitro, Discord applies the gift as extra time on their account. See how to redeem a Nitro gift.
So which should you get?
- Just want emoji everywhere? → Nitro Basic.
- Stream, share big files or want profile perks? → Nitro.
- Only want a boosted server? → Skip Nitro and buy server boosts directly.
